John and Eliza had 11 children, two boys and nine girls. 
The 1880 US Federal Census records John as a farmer, living in Villa Rica with Eliza and seven chidlren.
John is listed in the GA Voter Registration Oath Books & Returns of Qualified Voters under the Reconstruction Acts of 1867. He was registered in the Villa Rica election district.

John's headstone is the only readable marker in the Mann family plot. 
John was among a group of Villa Rican men protesting the refusal of Hoke Smith to run again for governor.
